Embracing My Inner Sloth (And Why I’m Finally Okay With It)

I didn’t want to be an Enneagram 9.

Because let’s be honest… our “representative animal” is a sloth.

And all I could picture was that painfully slow one at the DMV in Zootopia. 😳

(Just for the record—I’m very glad I’m not that sloth. 😂)

I wanted to be a 7—fun, energetic, full of sparkle and adventure.

Chuck’s a 7, and trust me, he wears it well!

But the more I learned about what a 9 truly is, the more I started to see… maybe this wasn’t such a bad thing.

What I’ve Learned as a 9

We’re called Peacemakers.

Not because we avoid everything, but because we carry calm in a world full of chaos.

We’re steady. Gentle. Empathetic.

We listen deeply and love quietly.

We don’t have to be the loudest in the room to make a difference.

I used to think I had to be someone else—louder, faster, “more.”

I've learned that God wired me for stillness, for compassion, and for grace.

And the sloth?

It’s not lazy—it’s anchored.

A Note About the Enneagram...

Some friends I love and respect have told me the Enneagram is “from the enemy.”

I get that concern. So I prayed, researched, and looked into it for myself.

For me, the Enneagram (like the Myers-Briggs) is just a tool—not a belief system.

It’s helped me understand how I’m wired, grow in self-awareness, and walk more confidently with Jesus.

Honestly? I’m a better version of me now because of it.

And in this season of slowing down, I really appreciate how deeply God knows me—and how sweet it is to finally embrace who He made me to be.

“I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”—Psalm 139:14

So yes... I’m a sloth.

But not that sloth. 😉

And I’ve learned that slow, steady, and spirit-led is a beautiful way to live.

Any of you 9"s out there RELATE? Especially the SLOTH part - HAHA

Click to play the CUTE little animation I did on this one... I LOVE IT!! 🥰
