Grateful #3 – Unexpected Detours

Sometimes the best blessings show up in the most unexpected detours!

Our first stop was in Denver — but leave it to me to give the wrong dates. 😅 I had it all planned… or so I thought! But God had a better plan — because that “oops” meant we got to watch Liam’s soccer game! ⚽️ It was so much fun (and a little shocking!) to see how much of a contact sport soccer really is. He got pretty beat up, but he played with such heart! Spending time with the kids and their mom was such a blessing in so many ways — I love them all SO much. 💕

Then we headed to New York to see Niagara Falls… and, well, another surprise detour! As we checked in, the front desk told us we didn’t have a reservation. 😬 Chuck pulled up our info, and — you guessed it — our reservation was actually for the hotel in Canada! HAHA! I’ve always wanted to go to Canada, so we just laughed and rolled with it! Thankfully, we had our passports with us (thank You, Lord!). The view from our room was breathtaking — and when they lit up the Falls at night, it felt like pure wonder. 🌈✨

Seeing the twins again after a few years was another beautiful gift. They’ve grown into such amazing young women, full of life and stories about school and sports. We laughed, hugged, and caught up on everything — my heart was so full.

This short trip before my surgery was life-giving in every way — full of laughter, love, and reminders that God’s plans are often better (and more fun!) than ours.

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”Proverbs 16:9 (ESV)

So yes… I’m grateful for unexpected detours. Sometimes, they’re the sweetest part of the journey. ❤️

Oh how wonderful! What an amazing adventure! Those are the BEST trips BTW… when “plans” don’t go through and you have to improvise! LOL

So happy you enjoyed yourselves and had a great time and got to see your grandkids as well as the magnificent Niagara Falls!!! We were actually just planning to go there this month and see Niagara Falls from both the US side as well as the Canadian side (to celebrate my 2 year surgery date that was on October 6,2023)

Praying over your surgery Pam and sending you all the love and good wishes for a smooth and successful surgery. Love you
