My Ebenezer Stone — Remembering What God Has Done

There are moments in life when God gives us something tangible — a reminder we can hold onto — to show that He sees us, knows our hearts, and is working in ways we may not yet understand.

One of those moments happened for me at the Leading and Loving It Conference this year. My dear friend Noel, who leads World Help, shared about an Ebenezer stone — a reminder of God’s faithfulness, just as Samuel did in 1 Samuel 7:12 when he set up a stone and declared:

“Then Samuel took a stone and set it up... He named it Ebenezer, saying, ‘Thus far the Lord has helped us.’”

As Noel spoke, she told a story from Uganda — a powerful moment where God showed His faithfulness in such a tangible way that it became her Ebenezer, her “stone of remembrance.” God did something... BIG!

She held up a stone as a symbol of that experience, reminding all of us that, like Samuel, we each have moments when God steps in, helps us, and deserves our remembrance and gratitude.

Then, as she finished sharing, Noel stepped down from the stage, walked toward me, and placed that very stone in my hand. She said, “This is for you — as a remembrance of what God is doing and what He’s going to do.”

Tears filled my eyes. I couldn’t stop crying. It was as if God whispered directly to my heart,“I see you. I know what you’re walking through. I’ve been with you every step — and I’ll continue to be.”

Now, every time I look at that stone, I remember.

I remember God’s goodness, His timing, and His faithfulness — in every season, the waiting and the rejoicing.

That stone sits where I can see it often — not as something magical, but as a marker of gratitude, a reminder that thus far, the Lord has helped me.

God knows how much we need these reminders — a verse, a note, a friend, a song, or even a stone — something that anchors our hearts when life feels uncertain. He knows we’re forgetful, so He lovingly gives us symbols of His presence to remind us to trust Him for what’s ahead.

💛 Reflection

Do you have an Ebenezer in your life — something that reminds you of God’s help and faithfulness?Take a few minutes today to thank Him for how far He’s brought you, and to trust that He’s already in your tomorrows.

“Thus far the Lord has helped us.” — 1 Samuel 7:12

Thank you LORD... I see YOU! I feel YOU! I KNOW YOU! I am Yours...
